What to Know When Reserving
Why No AC at duPlooy's
Because we consider ourselves a true eco-lodge, we want to let you know that we do not have AC. At certain times of year Belize can become quite hot and humid. Normally this is not an inconvenience for our guests because the overhead jungle canopy and cooling tropical rains keep our rooms quite comfortable for most of the year with just an overhead ceiling fan.
Benefits of No AC
Would you want to miss out on the pleasure of being lulled to sleep by a cacophony of tropical sounds or waking up to the calls of Chachalacas and the screeching sounds of Yellow-headed Parrots, underpinned by the cooing of White-tipped Doves, which are all a part of an authentic jungle lodge experience?
If you would like an additional fan we would be happy to provide you with an upright fan, which will be put to good use during the dry-season, which normally runs from early April through May.
Remember you can always cool off with a refreshing dip in the Macal River, which is convenient for swimming or tubing anytime ... or enjoy a cold drink at the Canopy Bar!
Wi-Fi is available at the Welcome Center and Canopy Bar ONLY! Also you will not find a TV or phone in your room. This is your chance to relax, take in and enjoy your pristine surroundings.
Our tap water comes from a 200ft well, which has been tested safe for drinking. There are also water filter stations at the Welcome Center and Canopy Bar where you can refill your water bottle.
It is our policy not to sell bottled water or other beverages that come in plastic containers.
Because we are in the jungle there are a large variety of insects, some quite exotic looking, however they are unlikely to bite or sting.
