To celebrate the end of the Mayan Calendar which took place December 21, 2012, we had a drawing among the guests who had purchased our Apocalypto Package and the winner received, in cash, the money paid to duPlooy’s.
This package was so much fun that we’ve decided to change the name to Belize Equinox Celebration and offer this same vacation package deal every quarter to celebrate the solstice.
* We need a minimum of 10 people paying for this 7-night, 8-day all-inclusive package in order to have the drawing, so we encourage you to bring your friends.

Day 1 – Road transfer from Belize City to duPlooy’s Jungle Lodge; Check in, 6pm welcome cocktail and drawing. The winner will receive, in cash, money paid to duPlooy’s, less travel agent commission, if applicable. Prize will be awarded in Belize $.
Day 2 – If you are an early riser, join us for coffee or tea and birdwatching on the deck from 6:30-7:00am. After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of adjacent Belize Botanic Gardens. After lunch at duPlooy’s take a short drive to visit Xunantunich Maya site for a guided tour In the evening enjoy happy hour on the bird deck or visit the food deck and learn to make tamales to cook on our wood-fired Mayan style fogon.
Day 3 – 8am departure for Barton Creek Cave where your guide will paddle you along under incredible rock formations. After the cave visit Green Hills Butterfly Ranch and picnic there. Next, go for a swim in the cascading waters of Big Rock Falls. On the way back to duPlooy’s stop at the San Antonio Women’s Co-op to pick up some local craft items to take home to your friends.
Day 4 – Cross the border into Guatemala for a visit to Yaxhá Maya site where you will climb ancient temples and walk in the footsteps of the Maya people and watch the sunset from the top of a temple overlooking a lake..
Day 5 – Today is your day off to choose another activity (not included in the price). Or hang around the property, exploring the gardens, trails, swimming, canoeing, tubing or birding or just relaxing in your hammock. See Activities & Tours for options.
This is a good day to book an in-room massage
Day 6 – Drive or canoe to San Ignacio Town where your guide will meet you to explore the town or visit our in-town Maya site, Cahal Pech or the Iguana Project at the San Ignacio Hotel. Enjoy lunch in San Ignacio (included). If you canoe to town, stop at Chaa Creek’s Natural History Centre & Blue Morpho Butterfly display on the way in and meet the rest of your group for lunch.
Day 7 – Choose from a horseback ride or a drive to Flour Camp Cave. If you choose to drive there is a 45-minute hike to the cave.
Tonight dance with a local garifuna drum band on the deck and enjoy a wood-fired barbecue.
Day 8 – Depart for your next destination or head for the airport.
